Turkey Day - REVISITED

Hello world once again! Yes - it has been a crazy long time since I have posted here but it's been a crazy year as well. There have been some wonderful people with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting in my life, another great Vegas trip was made, another ski trip to Lake Tahoe, and even my fabulous peanut-butter and crackers eating cousin Helen got hitched in Mexico! Where has the time gone?

So now it's already Thanksgiving again and it's time to get excited about another family gathering at Little Paint Creek Ranch in Junction, TX! The usual suspects will be present (the Boss, the Wino, the Gossip, the Instigator, and all the fellow Voyeurs.) However, I don't think there will be any Newbies this year, albeit, not from a lack of trying by yours truly. Helen's brother, Chris and I started a little tradition a few years back when we made Volume 1 of The Family Chronicles. It's basically a humorous video documentary which we did on our grandmother and we debuted it at the ranch 4 years ago. Well, we have done it again and this time the subject (uh...victim) is none other than the self-proclaimed "Boss of the World" herself - our aunt Ollabelle! Here's a small preview for your viewing pleasure...

Along with the screening, I have recently been told of a new tradition that is taking place this year as well. It's the first annual Little Paint Redneck Games on Friday! Only my family would go to such a beautiful place as there is on that wonderful piece of earth, gorgeous ranch house, with an all new French chef only to dress up in wife-beaters and cutoffs so that we could cuss like sailors and fling toilet seats for horseshoes! God love 'em! Incriminating photos to follow...stay tuned!

So world - Despite a few recent bumps along the road, life is good so hopefully I will get back to posting here more often as many of you request so whether you are throwing urinals, playing football, or just unbuckling your pants after a great meal, I wish you and yours all the best for Turkey Day 2008!

  1. Glad to see ya back in the blogging chair. It's also nice to see the family has come around to the idea of an Arkansas backyard free for all that offers both entertainment and physical fitness during a holiday. Don't forget the following games that have been a time honored tradition at our shack up in the hills of Pig Soooieeee land: bobbing for hog balls, vienna sausage in your ear race (think of egg on a spoon but no spoon), spam sucking contest (I recommend Sonic straws over McDonald's), pecan or walnut sling shot pain tolerance (stand 10 feet apart and see who lasts longest) and finally a bandana burro race (burro and rider has bandana on, someone fires a shot then let the thrill ride begin).

Have fun and be sure to wear a leather vest and sweat bands with your wife beater, really spruces it up for the holiday games.
